That means, we will gather at Lidl Stocksund, so that total distance will be within theoretical and practical running range for everybody. You can easily reach this place from Danderyds sjukhus metro station or bus stop. A small head lamp can be useful, but as we run on regular roads, you´re fine without one too. We will bring some lamps that you can borrow if needed. Running distance will be in between 6-13 km.
If you have a bag, it can be locked into our van, but unfortunately, there won´t be any  showers / changing facilities nearby. Meeting time at 18.00.

Training 14/11 and Membership in KOT

12 Nov

Welcome to KOT‘S weekly activity!

Meeting 18.00 at Kth-hallen, just as last week. A small head lamp can be useful, but as we run on regular roads, you´re fine without one too. This week it is time for a visit on the legandary Tranholmen. This island is unique in several ways, which we will experience during the run. There are about 100 households on the island and in wintertime there is a bridge to reach it without boat, which is excellent for us! Total distance will be in between 7-13 km.

As you´ve probably seen on Facebook – it is time to pay the membership fee to KOT too. Payment instructions are found under the ”INFO” -tab on the homepage. Feel free to ask if it is hard to find the instructions. 50 SEK per person and semester is what you need to pay.

See you on Wednesday – we help you to keep up the pace during the dark months!!

New account number

10 Nov

We have a new account number and payments to KOT should no longer be payed to PG 43 11 52-8.

From now on, make deposits to 5699 02 454 76 (SEB). Note that this is a regular bank account, not a PG.

This week we will run Kottebanan – our forest track made of reflectives in Lilljansskogen. Distance between 7-13 km.  You will need a headlamp or similar plus running clothes. There are some extra lamps which can be borrowed if you don’t own one yourself. Meeting 18.00 at Kth-hallen.

Next week on Wednesday we will run to Tranholmen and run around one of the islands in Stockholm that doesn’t have any real roads. There are about 100 households on the island and in wintertime there is a bridge to reach the island, so that the inhabitants can go there without using boat all the time.

KOT Training 30/10 and result Pampas Night

28 Okt

Welcome to KOT´s weekly activity!

Thank you all for being part of our Pampas troop last week . We just got the result from the organizer – check this link.  We did very well and both of our teams completed all the legs in the relay – Hurrah!

This week we will do long distance running with intervals. Meeting time 18.00 on Tuesday at KTH-Hallen.  Please bring a headlamp if you´ve got one. You can probably manage without a lamp, or borrow from us if you don’t own one yourself.

In the end of this week KOT is moving to Trondheim to show what we´re capable of! We meet after the training this week to clear travelling-schedule, planning, packing-list, questions etc.

Hope to see you on Tuesday!

Pampas Night PM and info!

21 Okt

Here comes more useful information for the upcoming event on Wednesday!

We meet at ”Kyrkplan”, Karlbergs Palace at the latest 17.45 (start is 18.00). We will be there from about  17.30 and on. For you who will come later due to exams, late working hours etc, please check when you run and estimate that every leg will take around 10 minutes. Please don´t be late. Be aware of parallel running on leg 2,3 and 4. That means three runners will start when first runner is back. After that each and every runner on leg 2 will hand over a map to the next one on leg 3 or leg 4. When the last parallel runner is back on leg 4, the runner on leg 11 will be able to start. There is therefor a lot to think of so that runners on fourth leg will finish in about the same time as second or third runner on the same leg.

What to bring?

Small flashlight or similar (no headlights are allowed), compass and warm clothes, including change. Shower possibility inside. If you don´t own any proper light, there will be some for borrowing available. You can take a shower and change clothes inside. There is also good to bring some safety pins for the number that is attached to your jacket when running.

We will bring glühwein and gingerbread that we heat on site and serve to keep a good team spirit and keep us warm in the night. We will arrange with SI Cards for everyone too. After the event we usually take some food for those who doesn´t need to hurry home after their leg. We´ll find something nice on the way back to the subway :)
For questions – please write asap as a reply to this thread, or on facebook.  See you! Läs mer

Training 18/10

14 Okt

Welcome to KOT´s weekly activity!

This week we will practice night orienteering again as it seems to be a popular activity. Meeting time is 18.00 at KTH Hallen, Thursday 18/10.  This week we do increase difficulty a bit with not allowing powerful headlights (well if you have nothing else it is fine). This will gives you an opportunity to test what you´ll experience next week when just running with a small, tiny flashlight in your hand.  The orienteering course will be at the maximum 5 kilometres. Furthermore, we will end the training with a workout session of the easy kind, to improve strength and flexibility, which can be helpful when running in rough terrain.

It is not too late to sign up for NSM in Trondheim in two weeks. We are already six participants – great!!! You can sign up directly under this Link and fill in the form we sent out. Please note entrance fee from 15/10 and on will be +200 NOK compared to earlier registration.

Hope to see on Thursday!

NSM 2018 :)

10 Okt

We have mentioned this competition for a while, and now it´s finally time for registration. This legendary event is once again arranged by NTNUI in Norway. All activities, time schedules etc. for this weekend can be found here . Event will take place 2-4:th of November in Trondheim.

For us in KOT, plan is to travel there early Friday to be able to arrive and run the night sprint at friday night. We start going back home after lunch at Sunday and will be back around 10-12 PM.

Cost for this weekend will be approximately 830 NOK +travel expenses (calculate with about 800-1000 kr per person for travelling)

We usually run in a masquerade class (Party Animals) on Saturday, which means that we need to do some preparations in terms of clothes and costumes so that we easily find each other in the big forest of Trondheim :) . Under the tab ”Fest” on the homepage, there are some pictures of earlier years and the costumes that were used then. There is also some information to find under the tab ”Tävling” on the homepage.
Remember this is not an orienteering competition for elite runners, which means that this is open to all students interested in having a fun weekend in the forest of Norway!

Here  you find a link to a google sheet, where you sign up if you are interested. We need to have an answer at the latest on Saturday 13/10, if you are interested in attending!

I guess there are several questions unanswered – you can send us questions on Facebook, to our email or over the phone (0707208881) to ask whatever it might be. Or just chat with us tomorrow night at the training.

See you!

Kot Training 11/10 and upcoming events!!

7 Okt

Welcome to KOT´s weekly activity!

This week we will practice night orienteering for the first time this autumn –  it´ll be awesome!!! Meeting time is 18.15. The courses will be of the easy kind, as it might be a bit strange to do orienteering in the dark for you who haven´t  tried it before! If you have a flashlight or headlight it is very good to bring it. We have at least five headlights that you can borrow too, so don´t hesitate even if you don´t own one yourself!
(If you want to buy one, we can recommend XXL or Decathlon. Wide assortment for both easy and professional use)

In about two weeks there is an event called Pampas Night, arranged at dusk in central Stockholm. It is a sprint relay, so as a participant you only run 2-3 km per person. We´ll compete with at least one team.
You have probably heard us talking about this event before, or seen some info on the homepage about it. It takes place Wednesday 24th of October, starting at 18.00 outside Karlberg´s Palace. There will be some well-tasting swedish Glögg (Glühwein) and gingerbread for participants in our team too :). Please sign up by filling in this form so that we know how many of you that are interested in running. And don´t forget to ask whatever we miss to inform about here.

We finally made a chat group at Facebook too, so that we can easier synchronize issues and do more spontaneous activities. This group also gives you all opportunity to share and invite to other training / activities with friends in KOT. We´ll remind about it further on too.

Hope to see on Thursday!

KOT Training 4/10

30 Sep

Welcome to KOT´s weekly activity!

This week we will go back and run from KTH-hallen as before. Meeting time is 17.45. We will do regular distance running and the plan is to run in between 5-12 km depending on shape and previous experience. We run mostly on paths and small roads.

After the running activity, we thought of celebrating ”kanelbullens dag” (Cinnamon bun´s Day) by taking a short break together and discuss upcoming events like the Nordic Student championship in Orienteering). And of course enjoy a lot of buns together!

Hope to see you all on Thursday! :)

Kongliga OrienteringsTeknologerna KOT is a KTH student sport association organizing orienteering and running training on a weekly basis. For those of you who haven´t experienced KTH and training opportunities before, we are a team of curious and humble students that loves to train together rather than on our own.
